ZAPIER RECIPE: Todoist + Slack

Just wanted to share a short recipe with you that I’ve been using for 6 months now.

It’s helped me to collect tasks from Slack and maintaining just one task manager, versus using solely Slack’s reminders feature.

RECIPE: Get starred Slack message > Todoist Inbox with comments.

1/ Start by going to and make sure of the following:

2/ Your Todoist & Slack accounts are connected.

3/ As you see below, here’s my Dashboard – I’d hit “make a zap!”

4/ Concept

The concept is essentially when you ever hit “star” on a message on Slack, Zapier Screen Shot 2016-08-28 at 16.19.47generates that into a Todoist task, allowing you to create tasks from Slack with ease for later. Todoist inbox then allows you to process the meaning of that starred message later. On the Slack, side remembers to assign which team you’d like it to come from, as I have 5-6 Slack teams that I’m using so it’s important you select one.

5/ Todoist side

Project ID: Inbox – I would keep it to this for now.

Title: Message Text – maybe add “from” if you wish.

Note: Perfect for Todoist Premium users – add a comment with more context in case you’d like to change Title with no hassle.

See full Todoist task set-up below.

Adding the comments at the end is a perfect way for Todoist Premium users to explore.

Head over to Zapier and give it a try!
